Article: Easter nest made from sweet yeast dough

Osternest aus süßem Germteig

Easter nest made from sweet yeast dough

These yeast dough Easter nests are ideal as a small Easter gift. A hand-dyed egg in the center, neatly wrapped, and you've got a perfect Easter treat.

This is what you need:

- 250 g lukewarm milk

- 1 egg

- 1 pinch of salt

- 80 g sugar

- 625 g flour

- 20 g fresh yeast

- 100 g room temperature butter

And here's how it works:

1. Mix all ingredients into a smooth yeast dough. Cover and let the dough rise (until it has doubled in size).

2. For the braided nest: Take three equal pieces of dough, roll each piece into long strands, and braid it. Shape the strand into a circle and tie the ends together.

For the twisted nest: Roll a small ball of dough into a long rope, bring the two ends together, and twist them. Then shape the twisted rope into a circle.

3. Brush the Easter nests with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes.

Good succeed!
