Chives - our great all-rounder
What do our colorful herb salt, spread seasoning salt and colorful soup seasoning have in common?
All three rely on chives as a versatile basic ingredient that can be combined with any number of foods and dishes.
Did you know: Chives belong to the allium family and are a popular culinary herb with a mild, onion-like flavor. They contain many vitamins, especially vitamin C, as well as iron and essential oils that aid digestion. Chives grow best in sunny to partially shaded locations with well-drained soil and are winter hardy. They sprout early in the spring and can be pruned regularly to encourage new growth.
In the kitchen, it pairs perfectly with spreads, egg dishes, salads, and soups. Important: Chives should not be cooked with the dish, but added at the end, as heat destroys their delicate aroma.
