Delicious pretzel sticks
Salt sticks are a classic in the bakery basket. They're delicious for any occasion, whether as a delicious party snack, on-the-go snack, or as a side dish to stews. With our simple recipe, these salt sticks are ready in no time and will first bring a wonderful aroma to your kitchen and then put a smile on your face as you enjoy them!
For about 16 salt sticks:
250 g milk
20 g fresh yeast
1 pinch of sugar
500 g wheat flour
60 g soft butter in pieces
2 tbsp corn oil
1 egg, whisked
1 - 1.5 tsp makasol sea salt, finely ground to taste
1 tsp water
Salt (makasol sea salt) coarsely for sprinkling
1 tsp caraway seeds for sprinkling
1. Heat the milk and mix with yeast and sugar.
2. Add flour, butter, corn oil, 1/2 egg, and salt, knead for two minutes, and then form a dough. Then knead briefly by hand. Form a ball, place it in a bowl, and let it rise, covered, for about 40 minutes, until it has doubled in size.
3. Form two equal-sized balls from the dough, knead until smooth and let rest covered for another 10 minutes.
4. Preheat oven to 230°C (top and bottom heat). Line two baking sheets with baking paper.
5. Roll out each dough ball into a thin circle and cut into eight cake slices. Starting at the wide end, roll the dough and press the end down. Roll the sticks a little more to make them more oblong. Beat the remaining egg with 1 teaspoon of water and brush the sticks with it. Sprinkle with coarse salt and caraway seeds.
6. Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheets and bake one after the other for about 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Good succeed!
